GRADUATE REQUIREMENTS

Master of Business Administration

  • A bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution, a nationally accredited institution approved and documented by the dean of the College of Business, or an appropriately certified foreign institution.
  • A 2.7 grade point average for the bachelor's degree used as the basis of admission, or a grade point average of at least 3.0 (on a scale of 4.0) for the last 60 hours of coursework (including graduate work).
  • A minimum score of 550 on the written TOEFL® or 79 on the TOEFL® Internet (iBT) is also required for all applicants whose native language is not English or who have not graduated from an institution at which English is the language of instruction.
  • All applications for admission must be submitted to the Admissions Department.

  • Application fee (Non-refundable, except in California and Arizona. In the state of Arizona, the application fee is refundable if the application is canceled within three business days of the applicant signing the Enrollment Agreement.)

Master of Public Administration

Prerequisite Experience

It is strongly recommended that students have prior health experience (e.g., in health care, research, community development, health promotion/education) and/or commitment to public health, and have or expect to have managerial or supervisory experience in order to be successful in the MPH program.

Master of Arts in Adult Education and Training

  • A bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution, a nationally accredited institution approved and documented by the faculty and dean of the College of Education, or an appropriately certified foreign institution.
  • A 2.7 grade point average for the bachelor's degree used as the basis of admission, or a grade point average of at least 3.0 (on a scale of 4.0) for the last 60 hours of coursework (including graduate work).
  • A minimum written TOEFL® score of 550 (paper version), 213 (computer version), and 79 (Internet version) for all applicants whose native language is not English or who have not graduated from an institution at which English is the language of instruction
  • Completed Application for Admission
  • $50 tuition deposit (non-refundable)
  • Official transcripts from the institution granting the Bachelor's degree and all postsecondary schools used to calculate the GPA
  • Students who do not meet the minimum GPA requirement must also submit the following:
    • Personal/professional goal statement
    • Current résumé (or career summary)
    • The names and contact information of three professional and/or academic references

Note: Applicants with grade point averages lower than the stated program minimums will be considered for admission on an exception basis with significant evidence of academic and professional potential. This potential may be demonstrated by the career and/or personal accomplishments indicated in the statement of academic and professional goals, the career summary, and academic or professional letters of recommendation. Exceptions must be recommended by the Admissions Committee and approved by the Campus Dean or Program Chair. Students admitted on an exception basis will be admitted as regular students on first term probation.

*Only campuses in Arizona, California, Illinois, Minnesota, Texas, and Utah offer programs that lead to teacher, administrator, or school psychologist certification, licensure, or endorsement in any State in the United States. With the exception of the MAED in Educational Administration (in a limited number of states), the programs, offered through Argosy University – Online Programs DO NOT lead to teacher or administrator certification , licensure, or endorsement in any State in the United States, regardless of the State in which the student resides.

Master of Science in Human Resources Management

  • A bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution, a nationally accredited institution, or an appropriately certified foreign institution.

The application process for admission into the MA in Sport-Exercise Psychology program requires the submission of material that will enable the Admissions Department to verify the applicant's academic qualifications for enrollment in the program. Applicants to the program must submit the following materials by the application deadline:

  • A minimum written TOEFL® score of 550 (paper version), 213 (computer version), and 79 (Internet version) for all applicants whose native language is not English or who have not graduated from an institution at which English is the language of instruction

Master of Science in Human Services

  • A bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution, a nationally accredited institution approved and documented by the faculty and dean of the College of Psychology and Behavioral Sciences, or an appropriately certified foreign institution.
  • A grade point average (GPA) on (on a scale of 4.0) as described below. Additional requirements may apply.
    • 2.7 for the bachelor’s degree, or
    • 3.0 for the last 60 hours of coursework (including graduate work), or
    • Between 2.0 and 2.7 for the bachelor’s degree. Students seeking admission with a GPA between 2.0 and 2.7 will be required to submit a personal/professional goal statement with a self-appraisal of qualifications for the profession, current résumé (or career summary), one completed letter from a current employer, and evidence of completing one undergraduate introductory psychology course with a grade of “C” or better. Students admitted with a GPA between 2.0 and 2.7 must enroll in W 5096 Academic Writing within the first 15 week semester and pass within the first 30 weeks. Admission between 2.0 and 2.7 must be approved by the program chair and must be justified, documented, signed, placed, and retained in the student’s academic file.
      • Between 2.0 and 2.4 for the bachelor’s degree. Students are also required to submit three academic or professional letters of recommendation (one from an employer).
  • A minimum score on an Argosy University pre-approved English language proficiency test is required for all applicants whose native language is not English or who have not graduated from an institution at which English is the language of instruction.
    • A minimum score of 550 on the written TOEFL® or 79 on the TOEFL® Internet (iBT) is also required for all of applicants whose native language is not English or who have not graduated from an institution at which English is the language of instruction.

Doctor of Business Administration

  • A master's degree in business or a related field from a regionally accredited institution or an appropriately certified foreign institution
  • A grade point average of at least 3.0 (on a scale of 4.0) in work leading to the master's degree, and in any subsequent graduate study
  • A minimum written TOEFL® score of 550 (paper version), 213 (computer version), and 79 (Internet version) for all applicants whose native language is not English or who have not graduated from an institution at which English is the language of instruction
  • Completed Application for Admission
  • $50 tuition deposit (non-refundable)
  • Documentation of current employment with or access to a professional organization
  • Official transcripts from all graduate schools attended and an official transcript from the school conferring your bachelor's degree
  • Personal/professional goal statement
  • For students with non-MBA degrees, the student needs to have graduate level courses in the following areas:
    • Accounting
    • Finance
    • Marketing
    • Statistics

Doctor in Education in Educational Leadership, and Teaching and Learning

  • A master's degree from a regionally accredited institution, a nationally accredited institution approved and documented by the faculty and dean of the College of Education, or an appropriately certified foreign institution.
  • A grade point average of at least 3.0 (on a scale of 4.0) in work leading to the master's degree and in any subsequent graduate study.
  • A minimum written TOEFL® score of 550 (paper version), 213 (computer version), and 79 (Internet version) for all applicants whose native language is not English or who have not graduated from an institution at which English is the language of instruction

Doctor of Education in Counseling Psychology

  • A master's degree in a mental health field with a counseling practicum from a regionally accredited institution or an appropriately certified foreign institution.
  • A grade point average of at least 3.0 (on a scale of 4.0) in work leading to the master's degree, and in any subsequent graduate study.
  • A minimum written TOEFL® score of 550 (paper version), 213 (computer version), and 79 (Internet version) for all applicants whose native language is not English or who have not graduated from an institution at which English is the language of instruction
  • Completed application for admission
  • $50 tuition deposit (non-refundable)
  • Official transcripts from the institution that conferred the master's degree and any institutions where graduate coursework was subsequently taken. Bachelor's level transcripts are not required.

Note: Argosy University emphasizes the importance of an applicant having met local licensure/certification requirements as a counselor/mental health provider. The EdD in Counseling Psychology does not lead to a licensure/credential as a provider of counseling services and should not be seen as preparation for entry-level practice.

Doctor of Education in Pastoral Community Counseling

  • A master's degree from a regionally accredited institution, a nationally accredited institution approved and documented by the faculty and dean of the College of Psychology and Behavioral Sciences, or an appropriately certified foreign institution
  • A grade point average of at least 3.0 (on a scale of 4.0) in work leading to the master's degree and in any subsequent graduate study.
  • A minimum written TOEFL® score of 550 (paper version), 213 (computer version), and 79 (Internet version) for all applicants whose native language is not English or who have not graduated from an institution at which English is the language of instruction
  • Completion of an interview with a member of the program Admissions Committee.

UNDERGRADUATE REQUIREMENTS

Admission Requirements

Applicants must provide proof of high school graduation or GED and meet one of the following conditions:

  • ACT Composite score of 18 or above, or
  • Combined Math and Critical Reading SAT score of 870, or
  • Minimum High School or College GPA as follows:
    • For students with 12 or less college credits, cumulative High School GPA of 2.0 or above
    • For students with 13 or more college credits, cumulative college GPA of 2.0 or above

Admission on Provisional status

Applicants who do not meet the above conditions for admission will be assigned "Provisional Status" in accordance with Argosy University policies regarding Satisfactory Academic Progress. If admitted on provisional status, students will have a maximum of two semesters to meet the standards for academic progress. A student assigned Provisional Status is eligible for financial aid.

Other Admissions Requirements

  • Remedial or developmental courses are not transferable.
  • Proof of high school graduation or earned college degree.
  • A minimum written TOEFL® score of or 500 (paper version), 173 (computer version), or 61 (Internet version) is required of applicants whose native language is not English or who have not graduated from an institution at which English is the language of instruction.
  • All applications for admission must be submitted to the Admissions Department. An admissions representative will help interested applicants complete the following required documentation:

  • Complete Application for Admission Form
  • Official transcripts from all post-secondary schools attended*
  • Proof of high school graduation or GED or college degree from a regionally accredited institution or nationally accredited institution approved and documented by the faculty and dean of the College of Undergraduate Studies

*Students admitted on the basis of their test scores need only submit official transcripts for coursework they wish to have considered for transfer credit

Placement Policy

Math Requirement

  • Students who transfer in one or more General Education Math course will not be required to take a placement test.
  • Students with no college credit in General Education Math will be placed in a developmental course per the Registration Policy for Developmental Coursework. However, they can choose to place out of developmental coursework by passing a placement test.

Writing Requirement

  • Students who transfer in one or more General Education Writing course will not be required to take a placement test.
  • Students with no college credit in General Education English will be placed in a developmental course per the Registration Policy for Developmental Coursework. However, they can choose to place out of developmental coursework by passing a placement test.

Developmental Coursework

Students who do not have transfer of credit in General Education Math and/or English, or do not successfully complete a placement test in either Math or English, may only enroll in developmental coursework after the first session until at least one of the developmental courses is successfully completed.

If developmental coursework for both Math and English is successfully completed, students proceed into their given program of study.

If developmental coursework is successfully completed in only one area (Math or English), students proceed according to the policies that govern enrollment in Mathematics Review or English Review. Students whose placement test scores are below the established cutoff in only one area (Math or English) may register for other coursework per the following policies:

Mathematics Review Policies

  • Prior to successful completion of a developmental course Mathematics Review I, students are limited to registration in the following General Education electives: PSY101 General Psychology, SCI110 The Rise of Modern Science, SCI115 The Ecological Perspective, POL110 American Experience, BIO120 Human Anatomy and Physiology.
  • Mathematics Review I may be retaken a second time, but students may not register for other courses until the developmental coursework has been completed with a grade of C- or higher . Students who fail their second attempt of a developmental course will be referred to the Student Professional Development Committee to address barriers to academic readiness.

English Review Policies

  • English Review I: Students not taking the placement test, or having placement scores below a certain threshold will be placed in English Review I. After the successful completion of English Review I they will bep laced in English Review II. Prior to successful completion of English Review I, students are limited to registration in the following General Education electives: PSY101 General Psychology, SCI110 The Rise of Modern Science, SCI115 The Ecological Perspective, POL110 American Experience, ECO201 Macroeconomics, ECO202 Microeconomics, BIO120 Human Anatomy and Physiology.
  • English Review II Students with placement test scores above the threshold for English Review I but with scores below the cutoff for passing will be placed in English Review II. Prior to successful completion of English Review II, students are limited to registration in the following General Education electives: PSY101 General Psychology, SCI110 The Rise of Modern Science, SCI115 The Ecological Perspective, POL110 American Experience, ECO201Macroeconomics, ECO202 Microeconomics, BIO120 Human Anatomy and Physiology.
